Australia coach Pim Verbeek admits that Germany were far too good for his side in their opening World Cup match in Durban.
The Dutchman could offer no excuses after the Socceroos were brushed aside 4-0 by a quality Germany outfit and highlighted the importance of winning the next two matches in order to qualify for the Round of 16.
“We took some time to get over that (first goal) and then they get a second goal and then it’s a difficult game. And then you have to play around 35 minutes with ten players, they were too good already 11 against 11 and you have a tough afternoon,” he said. Already the moment you lose this game you have to play two finals so that’s what we have to do – we have to beat Ghana and we have to beat Serbia. It’s that simple at the moment.”
