The father of Real Madrid and Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain has spoken of his pride after his son struck a hat-trick in Argentina’s win over South Korea.
Higuain became the first Argentine in 80 years to score three in a single World Cup game, such an event having not occurred since the first tournament in 1930.
“He did a special thing and it made me very emotional, because I never had the opportunity to play in a World Cup. When your son achieves these goals, having once been part of the same profession all of your feelings are magnified,” said Jorge Higuain. “The kid is powerful, he’s direct and he’s quick. I think he would have gone past me every time because I wasn’t as quick as he is.”
