Manchester United have been far from quiet in the transfer window so far and are expected to add at least one more face to their ranks. A central midfield player is the priority but with three signings already made, the Champions will again be a force to be reckoned with next season.

David de Gea – The new Spanish keeper is likely to start the season as number 1 at Old Trafford with Anders Lindegaard providing the cover. He lacks experience but certainly has the talent to be a major success.

Rafael/Fabio – With John O’Shea looking likely to join Sunderland, the two twins will fight it out for the right-back spot next season. They are both fantastic going forward but Fabio is seen as the more natural defender of the two.

Rio Ferdinand – If he can stay injury free, Rio will be a major player for United next season. His partnership with Vidic is one of the finest in the world but his back problems are a worry.

Nemanja Vidic – The United skipper was fantastic last season but had been linked with a move away from the club. These rumours were quickly quashed however and he will be an ever-present next season.

Patrice Evra – The Frenchman didn’t enjoy the best of seasons last term and he will be keen to get the horror of the Champions League final out of his system.

Antonio Valencia – There has been a lot of talk about wingers next season with Nani and Ashley Young also at the club but the Ecuador international is a certain starter.

Michael Carrick/Phil Jones/Darren Fletcher – Whilst Carrick enjoyed a successful season last year, the addition of Jones (who is considered a defender but has played central midfield) and the returning Fletcher will provide fierce competition for the ‘stopper’ role in midfield.

? – Sir Alex Ferguson is still in the market for a creative central midfield player with Samir Nasri, Luka Modric and Wesley Sneijder on the wanted list. If he fails to get his man, the three men above will fight it out with Anderson and Ryan Giggs for a place in central midfield.

Nani/Ashley Young – Nani enjoyed a fantastic first-half to the season last year but tailed off towards the end whilst Young was superb in a struggling Aston Villa team. The two players are quite similar and so I expect only one to make the starting line-up.

Wayne Rooney – Manchester United with a fully fit Wayne Rooney are an entirely different team. He was superb towards the end of last season and is expected to have a major impact this season.

Javier Hernandez – The young Mexican continued his fine goal-scoring form from last season into this summer’s Gold Cup where he scored 9 goals for his country. He is in negotiations about a new long-term deal.
