Eying to creep into the top three position, Fiorentina started the match in an attacking fashion as they dominated proceedings right from kick off. However, luck just wasn't on the visitor's side in the first period as they were held into a 0-0 draw by their opponent.
In the second half, things started to improve for La Viola as it took them only five minutes after the re-start to open their account through Stevan Jovetic's goal. Things got a little more interesting after Jovetic's opener as Palermo were eager to get themselves back into the match and search vigorously for an equalizer.
However, things eventually settled in the final 10 minutes, especially after Jovetic netted his second in the game, this time from the penalty spot. Another spot kick was rewarded or the visitor few minutes later and it was Gonzalo Rodriguez's turn to rattle the back of Palermo's net on that occasion.
