Chelsea will move to sign Gary Cahill in January after Andre Villas-Boas indentified the England international as the man to bolster his back-four.
The Bolton defender has seen his side endure a horrific start to the season and with his contract up at the end of the season, he is almost certain to leave in January. The 25-year-old was wanted by both Arsenal and Tottenham in the summer but could not agree a deal with Bolton, who wanted £15 million.
But with Cahill’s willingness to move and his contract ending, Chelsea are confident they can secure the defender for a cut-price figure of £8 million.
