Demba Ba smashed a hat-trick past Stoke last night as Newcastle moved into third place in the Premier League.

And Magpies boss Alan Pardew hailed his sharp-shooter and insisted the striker was not driven by revenge. The Senegal international could have joined the Potters in January, but boss Tony Pulis pulled out of the move with Ba struggling with injury at the time.

Pardew told SkySports, ‘I don’t think there is any animosity between Demba and this club. He did a great job at West Ham and I brought him to Newcastle and he has been absolutely terrific. He doesn’t miss a day’s training’.
