So the new Adidas Adi5 X indoor soccer shoes are out, and they are more than an answer to the Nike 5 line. The new shoes are simply awesome, in both looks and feel. First of all, there black for the most part, including the laces, which is unremarkable in and of itself, but this is the only backdrop for the real beauty. The electric green color on the stripes, lettering, and under sole dominate the whole of this shoe. It gives it a unique character that is brighter than the Nike Bomba or Elastico Pro colorways.

As for the construction, the shoe brings some strength there as well. The upper, toe, and instep are covered with something called the “touch compound.” Basically, it’s sticky when you press on it like an American football players gloves, or the grip on a golf club, but softer and more flexible.

The shoe also has a heel guard like you’d find on an Adidas Predator. Kinetic energy is what’s transferred by a player’s foot, and the heel cup prevents that from being transferred to your heel bone and resulting in lots of pain. There is also a scuff resistant rubber covering on the toe, so they’ll stay looking newish. The sole is a non-marking turf style cleat pattern, but I wouldn’t recommend them for asphalt or concrete. The coolest feature that sets these shoes apart is the Adiprene gel insole. This cushions your feet beautifully especially if you’re stopping or cutting on the run. The main time I notice it is after a game when your feet always hurt. Mine still hurt, but they hurt a lot less, especially on the balls of my heels.

Overall, they’re a great pair of indoor soccer shoes, and for $53.99 they’re a steal. Check them out at soccerpro.com for free shipping.
