Manchester United matchwinner Wayne Rooney on THAT goal, his superb overhead kick that won the Manchester derby:
“I think it’s the best goal I’ve ever scored, I saw it coming over and I thought, why not? I was just delighted to see it go in the net and get the three points. Nine times out of 10 they go into the stand… it’s the first overhead kick I’ve scored since turning professional.”
Man City boss Roberto Mancini on his side’s derby defeat:
“Wayne Rooney can change every game because he is a fantastic player. But we didn’t deserve to lose. We played very well and I’m not worried for the result because this is football. What was important is that we played a good game.”

United goal: Wayne Rooney challenges for Edwin van der Sar’s clearance and the ball drops for Ryan Giggs, who spots Nani has got on the wrong side of Pablo Zabaleta… Zabaleta is not going to catch him either, and Nani runs on to coolly slot past Joe Hart.
GOAL Man Utd 1-1 Man City (Silva)
Man City goal: Erm, fair to say there is an element of luck about this one. Shaun Wright-Phillips gets down the right and Edin Dzeko’s first-time shot hits David Silva’s backside and spins into the net. The Spaniard knew absolutely nothing about it.
GOAL Man Utd 2-1 Man City (Rooney)
Man Utd goal: Absolutely amazing. There is no other way to describe this strike by Wayne Rooney. Nani sends over a cross from the right and Rooney leaps and swivels to meet it with a magical overhead kick that leaves Joe Hart with no chance. Goal of the season? Probably.
