Could Zinedine Zidane be the next head coach of France? As the best French player of all time, Zizou at the helm of Les Blues might not seem too far fetched.

Laurent Blanc’s recent departure has set the rumour mill in full swing. On Thursday French newspaper L’Equipe revealed that Zidane had met the president of the French Football Federation.

Didier Deschamps remains the number one contender but negotiations seem to have stalled. However Zidane does not yet have all the UEFA coaching licenses required to take the role although he has said that the job would be of interest.

Zizou is currently a director of football at Spanish giants Real Madrid where he spent five years as a player. Lesser mortals have tried to tame the French national side with limited success. Perhaps Zidane would be just the man to take them back to the top of world football.
