After yesterday’s 3-0 Arsenal win and a misfired penalty by Robin van Persie, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez accuses Fabregas of ‘cheating’ to win a penalty for Arsenal.

One of his players, Gary Coldwell was sent off after he picked Fabregas up, the latter one sweet talked the referee and gained himself a penalty, though later a misfired one.

Martinez said: “I thought the penalty was very soft. If you look at the replay there is contact but you don’t know how much that contact came from Cesc looking for it.

“Gary just tried to get back into position and I don’t think the contact is intantional to bring Cesc down.

“You have to remember that Cesc comes from a different culture. You don’t cheat in the game. If you are taking a decision from the referee it’s because you are clever and you you are getting something for your team.”

Martinez thus emphasized he knows Cesc very well and that he is wonderful, however he is very clever and took advantage of that, like one used to do in Spain, where he played before coming to England.

Accordingly, he said: “In England to do that is cheating. In South America, Spain and even Italy to try and get a decision off the referee is just being clever.

“Getting that advantage in those countries is acceptable, everyone is allowed to do it. It’s really down to your culture. Fabregas’s action would have received a ‘well done’ in Spain. But in England you have people who aren’t too happy with it because they have a different approach.”
