According to various reports emerging, Manchester United’s young talent Ravel Morrison looks set to leave the club after ‘contract talks broke down’. That is, however, far from the truth.

The fact of the matter is Morrison, 18, has 18 months left on his current contract, but there is a genuine concern that his behaviour could lead to the club allowing him to leave at the end of the season. The talented midfielder was a key part of last season’s successful Youth Cup side and although he has made first-team appearances against Aldershot and Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup, he is regularly missing from reserve team squads.

The reason for this? He fails to turn up for training. Rio Ferdinand tweeted this morning: “Certain kids need their heads banging, they don’t see what they got within reach, if only they FOCUSED 100%. Fix up, Make it Count.”

It isn’t hard to see who he may be talking about, seeing as how fellow youth team star William Keane has reportedly been quoted as stating that Morrison must ditch his mates in order to fulfil his talent.

This should have been the season where Morrison made his breakthrough into the first-team picture at United. Instead, Sir Alex Ferguson has been forced to call upon Paul Scholes to fill the gap in midfield.
