Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may recall Thomas Vermaelen for Tuesday’s home Champions League clash with Marseille.

The Belgian defender continued his comeback with a substitute appearance in the 5-3 win over Chelsea on Saturday and may replace Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the defence. However, Jack Wilshere, Abou Diaby (both ankle), Kieran Gibbs (stomach) and Bacary Sagna (broken leg) remain long-term absentees.

Marseille meanwhile could have Rod Fanni and Jordan Ayew back in the squad whilst Andre-Pierre Gignac has recovered from groin trouble.
