Carlos Tevez was handed an escape route from Manchester City last night when Brazilian club Corinthians tabled an offer of £37 million to bring him back to South America. Tevez is set to leave City after two years at the club as he wants to be closer to his family who currently reside in Argentina. His wife would be willing to make the move to Brazil and it seems Tevez’ old club have made the first move in order to secure the deal. It had been believed that no club in South America would have the financial muscle to sign him but reports have emerged that the wealthy Brazilian outfit look set to be putting together a sensational bid to sign him.

Real Madrid have also been strongly linked with a move for the striker but have yet to make a move whilst selling him to Brazil would seem extremely attractive to City as the two clubs would not face each-other in any competition. Tevez played for Corinthians from 2004-2006 before making the move to England with West Ham United. He was considered a cult figure and scored 31 goals in 47 games during his spell at the club.

Meanwhile, those heading for the exit door at the club – if the price is right – include Emmanuel Adebayor, Craig Bellamy, Wayne Bridge, Roque Santa Cruz, Shay Given, Jo, Nedum Onuoha and Michael Johnson. Roberto Mancini is keen to trim his squad for the coming season and free up wages which are costing the club around £800,00 a week for players that are not wanted at the club.
