Manchester City striker and captain Carlos Tevez has refused to commit his future to the club amid reports he wants to return to Argentina. The striker finished the season as joint-top scorer in the Premier League alongside Dimitar Berbatov but struggled on a personal level. He handed in a transfer request in November and looked set to leave before making a dramatic U-turn to stay at the club in the New Year.

He has had plenty of opportunities to commit his future to City in recent weeks but has failed to do so when prompted. The 27-year old is currently in Argentina spending time with his family and is due to report for international duty in the coming weeks ahead of next months Copa America tournament. After that, Tevez has stated he believes it would be hard to return to England after such a long period away, he had been quoted as saying he hated the weather and that Manchester ‘has nothing to do’. He has also made no attempt to learn the language after almost 5 years in England with West Ham United, Manchester United and Manchester City. A move to Spain is also a possibility but with City demanding £100 million for the striker and Barcelona having just £40 million to spend, Real Madrid are realistically the only club who could satisfy his wage demands.

Tevez seems to have alienated his team-mates at City, with reports emerging that three senior players have told Roberto Mancini they do not want Carlos Tevez to be captain of the side next season, with Vincent Kompany remaining the more obvious choice after such a fine season last term. The fact Tevez has failed to commit himself to the club will be a bitter pill to swallow for the club’s board and fans, having handed him a £250,000 a week contract.

Whilst, Bayern Munich are confident they can secure a deal for City defender Jerome Boateng in the coming week. The defender arrived at Eastlands with huge promise but has failed to live up to expectations in the Premier League and found himself playing second fiddle to Micah Richards at right back for the majority of the season. City are also hoping to steal a march on their rivals in the pursuit of Luka Modric. Roberto Mancini sees the Tottenham playmaker as the ideal player to complement his midfield as they look to assemble a squad capable of competing in both the Premier League and the Champions League.
