Liverpool’s strike duo Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll have dominated the headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent months, leaving rumors of a January exit to surface at a rapid pace. Suarez has been involved in a race row and an improper conduct charge which has seen him accumulate a ban of 9 matches, while Carroll has continued to struggle in front of goal. Rumors of a cut-price £10 million deal will bring Carroll back to Newcastle, though all parties involved have moved to deny the deal is in place.

Real Madrid are rumored to want the services of Luis Suarez, with a bid of £30 million speculated to be tabled. However, a recent interview with the Uruguyan hotshot, who is Liverpool’s top goal-scorer this season, revealed that Suarez has absolutely no intention of leaving the Reds. Suarez admitted that he is grateful to the fans and staff for their support throughout his time at Anfield and more so during his rough patch recently and that he wants to repay the fans with a double; a trophy and a top four finish.

“I want to win a trophy with Liverpool,” Suarez told Goal.com “When I came here the team hadn’t been doing so well but we are a much better squad now and we are capable of winning a trophy and getting back into the Champions League. When I’m back in the side that is the aim and would be the perfect 2012 for me.”

The Uruguyan went on to say that it was a dream come true to sign for Liverpool leaving any fans doubting his commitment back on the shelf.

Liverpool’s No. 9 is nearing a full year at Anfield, and Carroll has yet to truly make his mark. However, despite his recent drought in front of goal Kenny Dalglish has continued to back the club’s most expensive signing, and rightly so. Carroll has not had the greatest service and has not had a decent run of games to be based on, but that has not stopped the media from exploiting his every mistake. Dalglish has moved once again to defend his player, saying that the stories have “no foundation”.

‘I am worried about the people that invent them,’ he said in his post-match interview following the Reds 1-0 win over Manchester City. “You have absolutely no foundation whatsoever (for the stories). I don’t need to justify what is in the paper. I have stood up – and always will stand up – for the players.” Dalglish also turned the question on reporters, adding, “You justify your profession and you justify the story.”

The Reds have yet to make any moves in the January transfer market despite Suarez being out for several more matches, though it is likely the Reds will strengthen their squad should a target become available.
