Russia have displaced England as favourites to host the World Cup 2018 after England spent two years as favourites to host the competition. There is just over a week until the host is announced by FIFA and it looks as though Russia have timed their run perfectly.

England have already survived several scandals during the bidding for the World Cup 2018 hosting rights but it seems they have snatched defeat from the draws of victory, having been odds on favourites not long ago they are now around the 6/4 mark to host the 2018 World Cup. It seems the wait since 1966 to host the World Cup again may continue.

Russia have now become the favourites and they look set to benefit from the English implosion. They are not 100% certain to win the right to host the World Cup 2018 but at around even money they are most likely. They are ahead of the joint bid from Portugal and Spain which isn’t out of it at around the 5/1 mark, one bid that does look set to fail is the one from Belgium and Netherlands, that is as big as 66/1 at the moment.

The decision comes a week tomorrow and at the same time the 1022 World Cup host will be determined, it looks as though USA will win as they are currently odds on to be handed that World Cup, there are two other countries in with decent chances though and they are Australia and Qatar, neither of which have ever hosted a World Cup before.
