New signings– Ivory Coast international Gervinho has netted twice in pre-season and formed a fine understanding with Robin Van Persie at the business end of the Arsenal team. Young defender Carl Jenkinson also looks a superb prospect for the future.
Star performer in pre-season – Aaron Ramsey has been impressive so far in pre-season having recovered from injury last season. He could expect a more prominent role in the team this season should Cesc Fabregas depart the club.
Youngster watch – Striker Benik Afobe has really caught the eye in pre-season with some energetic performances. He is expected to be sent on-loan this season but expect to see his name in the future.
Title chance? – They always have a chance but need two new central defenders, a midfielder and another striker to compete.
Strengths – On their day, they can beat anyone. If teams let them play, then they can expect to win the majority of their matches.
Weaknesses – They struggle massively in defence to anything which is fired into their box. They also find it hard to kill teams off and lack firepower should Robin Van Persie become injured.
What they need – Two defenders – Chris Samba and Phil Jagielka. A midfielder – Juan Mata and a striker – Fernando Llorente.
