Having been forgotten in Italy national team setup for quite a while, veteran attacker Luca Toni, is starting to attract attention for potential call up after his excellent season with Hellas Verona.
The former Fiorentina striker himself isn’t hiding his hope in playing at World Cup 2014, claiming that his recent goal scoring form should be taken as consideration, especially when other attackers who scored less than him are also being considered.
Toni also revealed that his choice in accepting Verona’s offer was an excellent decision as the veteran manage to showcase that sharpness that earned him that status as one of Italy’s top center forward.
Although he has been performing well this season, it will be difficult indeed for Toni to get that call up as Cesare Prandelli also have other veteran attackers, such as Francesco Totti along with Antonio Cassano, who do have higher chance in getting a call due to their creativity.
However, just like the veteran striker revealed, should he keeps on performing well and scoring goals, there’s no reason for Prandelli not to give that shot for Toni at least to get that consideration before that final call up.
