Spanish teams’ domination in Champions League as both Madrid sides advanced into the semifinal stage of that competition, after eliminating their opponents in the quarter final.
Real Madrid got themselves into seventh consecutive UCL semifinal as they eliminated Bayern Munich with a 4-2 second leg victory after extra time, making the final aggregate in two ties 6-3.
Los Blancos were determined to maintain their 2-1 lead from the first leg, but that doesn’t happen as Bayern turned things around in that first 90 minutes.
Goals from Robert Lewandowski along with Sergio Ramos’ own goal, was only replied by Cristiano Ronaldo’s effort, creating a 2-1 scoreline for The Bavarian and forcing an extra time.
However, the tie didn’t really shift into Carlo Ancelotti’s side as just before the 90 minutes mark they once again got a man sent off, this time Arturo Vidal, who got his second yellow, albeit it was totally undeserved.
Meanwhile, Madrid can consider them fortunate not to see Casemiro also getting his marching order as he should also received his second yellow card in that game.
In extra time, Ronaldo strike again as he netted two goals, which were highly arguable, notably the first one where he was clearly off side.
That situation simply knocked Bayern out as they ended up conceding a fourth through Marcos Asensio which completed Madrid’s 4-2 win.
In other tie, Atletico Madrid held surprise package, Leicester into a 1-1 draw which was enough to see Diego Simeone’s men advance as they won 1-0 in the first leg.
Spanish international midfielder, Saul puts the visitor ahead with his goal, but Jamie Vardy was able to snatch an equalizing goal midway into the second half.
No more goals were scored though afterwards as Atletico just did enough to get them that massive ticket into Champions League semifinal.
