Turkey’s slim hope of advancing into the knock out stages of Euro 2016 remain alive as they successfully grabbed a 2-0 win over Czech Republic on Tuesday.
Losing their first two games in the tournament, Turkey were determined not to disappoint again as they put on an aggressive display since kick off.
Turkish attacking intent was rewarded early in the match as they were one goal up after just 10 minutes through Burak Yilmaz’s effort, finishing off an assist from Emre Mor.
Czech Republic were keen on getting back into level terms, but their attempts were fruitless as it was Fatih Terim’s men that eventually got their second.
This time it was Ozan Tufan who netted home for Turkey midway into the second period, after receiving an assist from Mehmet Topal.
That result means that Turkey will now have to wait for other remaining groups to conclude before knowing whether they will be getting a spot as one of the best third place teams or not.
