Switzerland got themselves into the knock out stage of FIFA World Cup 2018 despite only picking up one point on their final group game against Costa Rica.

Hungry for three points to ensure everything, Swiss found themselves caught in a tight battle which saw them held into a 2-2 draw in the very end.

Knowing their situation, Petkovic’s men looked determined but remained cautious as they don’t want to make unnecessary moves that could jeopardized their ambition.

Swiss finally got themselves a break through when veteran midfielder Blerim Dzemaili puts them ahead on 31 minutes, to give a major boost for their confidence as they go into half time break leading by a goal.

In the second half, both teams continuing their offensive efforts they made it the first 45 minutes, this time  it was Costa Rica that got on the score sheet through Kendall Watson, just few minutes before the hour mark.

Swiss tried to regain their lead once again and it took them until the 88 minutes before netting their second goal, this time from  Josip Drmic’s effort.

Unfortunately that lead only lasted for a short while, knowing that Costa Rica equalized again as an own goal from Yann Sommer deep in stoppage time.

Luckily, that result was more than enough for Swiss to make their way into the knock out stage as group runners up
