Suarez Helped Barcelona Sink Madrid and Lopetegui’s Future

Having been receiving slight criticism in recent years due to his inconsistent performances, Luis Suarez, showed that he can still put on an excellent display following his hat-trick against Real Madrid on Sunday’s El Classico.

El Barca destroyed Madrid 5-1 and Suarez was undoubtedly the main culprit for that big win which could very well put Julen Lopetegui’s future at Santiago Bernebau under serious threat.

Suarez’s involved can be felt already since the Catalan side’s opener which was scored by former Liverpool star, Philippe Coutinho after just 11 minutes of play.

Suarez’s off the ball movement simply caught Madrid’s defender, allowing the Brazilian midfielder to comfortable slot the ball home without much disturbance.

The Uruguayan international then scored all of Barca’s next three goals, putting his side on such commanding lead and simply ending any Los Blancos’ attempt to get back on that tie.

Lopetegui’s men actually showed strong come back potential early in the second half when they pulled one back to make it 2-1 and were creating several goal scoring chances, before Suarez netted his team’s third which pretty much ended Madrid’s resistance at 3-1.

Ernesto Valverde’s men capped off their win with a fifth goal scored by Arturo Vidal, handing Los Blancos their biggest loss so far this season and possibly ending Lopetegui’s adventure with the defending Champions League winner.

More than just bringing the massive excitement, Barca’s big win over Madrid also showed that Valverde’s men can perform well even when they are not playing with Lionel Messi.
