Following their recent 3-3 draw against Celtic in the Champions League, Manchester City saw their perfect Premier League record ended this weekend as they were beaten 2-0 by Tottenham Hotspur.
Playing without several players, notably Kevin De Bruyne, Man City found themselves struggling to overcome Spurs’ high energy pressing game, especially in the first 45 minutes.
During that first period, Mauricio Pochettino’s men gave plenty problems for City which resulted in the two goals, came from Aleksandar Kolarov’s own goal and Dele Alli’s finish inside the box.
After the break, Pep Guardiola’s side showed some improvement, but it was Spurs that had the best chance when Erik Lamela saw his penalty shot saved by Claudio Bravo.
Meanwhile, a slight disappointment also felt by Manchester United as they failed to follow up their recent winning streak against Stoke City.
Jose Mourinho’s men were held into a 1-1 draw, despite creating several good goal scoring opportunities and did managed to take the lead on 69 minutes through Anthony Martial.
However, with less than 10 minutes left in the clock, Stoke were able to pull off an equalizing goal thanks to their summer signing, Joe Allen.
