Following the absence of Riccardo Montolivo because of his recent injury, another famous name has been left out of Italy’s squad as Cesare Prandelli announced his final 23-men pick which didn’t include Fiorentina man, Giuseppe Rossi.
Unlike Montolivo whose omission was forced by a broken leg he suffered in Italy’s Saturday friendly against Ireland, Rossi’s absence from the World Cup is a specific choice from Prandelli, who probably think that the striker was not fit enough to compete in Brazil.
Should fitness level being based as Prandelli’s decision to left Rossi out, Azzurri fans will mostly accept the decision since the former Villarreal man was out for about four months this past season before returning in the final few weeks of Serie A.
It was a disappointing moment indeed for Rossi as he was highly expecting to get that final cut since he has worked pretty hard in getting himself back into fitness before the World Cup 2014 campaign.
Meanwhile, among the names being called, there’s some surprise names being selected, such as Torino’s Matteo Darmian along with Parma’s Marco Parolo, who were previously not being favored to make that final cut.
