Romania’s ambition to properly bounce back from their first game defeat against France didn’t go as well as planned as they only picked up a point on their second group fixture against Switzerland.

Anghel Iordanescu’s men made a bright start on that tie as they got in front after 18 minutes of play through Bogdan Stancu’s spot kick.

Swiss’ wastefulness proved to be costly this time around as their failure in converting several good scoring chances forced them to trail by one goal going into half time break.

In the second half, Vladimir Petkovic’s men increased their pressure over their opponent and that approach received its reward on 57 minutes trough Admir Mehmedi’s finish.

Despite both teams’ continuous efforts in search for that winning goal, none of them were successful as that tie eventually ended in a 1-1 draw.
