Iran failed to get themselves into the next stage of Asian Cup after suffering a penalty shoot-out defeat from their gulf nation neighbor, Iraq, after both sides drawing 3-3 after extra time.
Although disappointed with their failure to go into the next stage, Iran head coach, Carlos Queiroz praised his players for the excellent effort they put on that match.
The tactician added that his team was simply unlucky, while congratulating Iraq for their steel of nerve during that penalty shoot out.
Moreover, Quiroz also admitted that the sending off his team had during the first half of that tie simply affected their performance afterwards as they eventually lose control of the tie, despite already taking a one goal lead.
