Arriving into the Euro 2016 final with a less convincing run by winning only one game in 90 minutes, doesn’t seem to lower Portugal’s confidence ahead of their tie against host nation France.
This confidence was shouted out by Selecao midfielder, Joao Mario, who stated that his side has shown positive growth throughout the tournament, adding that Portugal now have strong believes on themselves.
Mario also said that playing in the final means a lot for Selecao as they are keen on winning their first international trophy, notably after failing to do so back in 2004.
The midfielder believes that his team are more than ready to surprise everyone by defeating France, which is currently hailed as favorite to win that tournament.
Moreover, Mario stated that Portugal’s poor record against France won’t bring Selecao down as it will only motivate them even more to win the Euro 2016 final against Les Blues.
