Portugal Win Euro 2016 Despite Ronaldo’s Injury

Portugal’s dream on winning their first major international title came true as they successfully grabbed Euro 2016 trophy following a 1-0 extra time win over France through Eder’s goal.

Being tipped as the battle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann, that tie went into a different path early on as Ronaldo was forced to leave the pitch because of injury.

The Real Madrid star looked really disappointed with that situation, but his exit pretty much sparked his teammates will power to give their best.

Although Les Blues were able to dominate possession and create some chances, but overall Selecao managed to contain Didier Deschamps’ men.

Fernando Santos side themselves also got goal scoring opportunities from set pieces and fast counter attacking play, forcing France to take more cautious play throughout the match.

Neither teams were able to score during 90 minutes, making that game went into another 2×15 of extra time where they continue to look for the winner.

Eventually, it was Portugal’s night as substitute striker Eder scored a lovely long range strike on 109 minutes, giving so much joy for Selecao players and fans.

Les Blues players tried to get back into the tie, but without much time left on the clock, they couldn’t really do much and must accept their defeat in front o f their home crowd.

It was a massive win indeed for Portugal as they successfully win their first title and having to do it even without their best player, who got injured early on.

Ronaldo himself looked really happy to win his first international title, despite not being able to participate much in that final, but he continuously support and pump up his teammates during that game.
