Newcastle United picked up a 3-1 defeat against Benfica on the first leg of their Europa League campaign on Thursday, but the Magpies manager Alan Pardew remains optimistic with his team’s chance in advancing into the next stage especially since they managed to score an away goal.
Pardew stated that their away goal could be an important factor which will help Newcastle’s path in the second leg, but he warned his players that they must get an early lead to open that chance in advancing from the quarter finals round.
Meanwhile, Benfica tactician Jorge Jesus also isn’t ruling out Newcastle’s chance as he believes that the Magpies will play more aggressive at home.
