Newcastle United secured a ticket to the EFL Carabao Cup final after eliminating Arsenal 4-0 on aggregate. The Magpies won 2-0 on their 2nd leg battle at St James Park, following up on their first leg victory with the same scoreline.
Playing at home, Newcastle immediately took the initiative and eventually got ahead through Jacob Murphy’s rebound effort. Arsenal tried to get back into the tie but none of their efforts was successful as it was the home team that doubled their lead through Anthony Gordon in 52 minutes, capitalizing on a mistake from the Gunners’ defense.
Just like the first meeting, Arsenal struggled to break down Newcastle’s wall, resulting in a comfortable two-leg victory for Eddie Howe’s men.
