Newcastle refusing to budge on Carroll price tag

Newcastle United have stood firm and refused to meet Liverpool’s £20m price tag, for former striker Andy Carroll.

The English giant has seemed keen on a return to the Direct Arena but Newcastle have told Brendan Rogers, they will not bid £20m for the striker.

Liverpool have been trying to offload the striker after his poor goal scoring form last season, sparking interest from clubs all over England.

West Ham had shown interest in Carroll but a deal was never worked out, the United manager said: ‘He would have been a massive signing for us and, like everything else, when you see an opportunity you try to go for it.’
