Lorenzo Insigne’s performance in Napoli’s 2-0 Serie A victory over Juventus received many praises as he was a key figure for the Partenopei’s success in defeating the current Italian league leader.

However, aside from helping out his club grabbing all three points on Sunday, Insigne also has another agenda with his fine performance as the 22-year-old attacker hopes that he can convinced Italian national team head coach, Cesare Prandelli.

Just like many top Italian players, Insigne is keen in securing a spot for Azzurri’s World Cup 2014 setup, which could be very tight considering there are plenty attackers competing for places in Prandelli’s setup.

Speaking up his hope, the attacker told Italian media, ““I am giving my all with the Napoli jersey to reach my objective, which is the World Cup. Prandelli is tracking me, I am happy with these performances and hope in the end they will pay off,” he explained.

Acknowledging the tough competition, the former Italian under 21 star promised to maintain his consistent form until the end of season as he believes only by performing well he can eventually get that important call up for WC 2014.

It will be an interesting personal battle indeed for Insigne to get that call up, especially with recent reports suggesting that Prandelli is also considering two veteran stars, Francesco Totti along with Antonio Cassano to rejoin the Azzurri setup in Brazil.
