Experiencing a difficult season with AC Milan isn’t lowering down Riccardo Montolivo’s spirit ahead of the World Cup 2014 as the Italian international midfielder said that he is feeling motivated for that tournament.
Speaking to FIFA, Montolivo revealed his ambition in improving Azzurri’s performance this year as they were disappointing on previous 2010 World Cup where they don’t even manage to get into the second round.
Being one of the main players during that South African World Cup, Montolivo felt responsibility for Italy disappointing performance, that’s why this year he is expecting something magical happened for his side.
“Our desire is to bounce back after what happened four years ago.The World Cup in South Africa proved to be a negative experience and we can’t wait to put things right,” Montolivo explained. “I expect a magical World Cup. To have it in Brazil, the centre of football, makes me think it’s going be really special.
However, before thinking too far, Montolivo must set his focus first in ensuring Prandelli to pick him as part of Italy’s final 23-men that will fly to Brazil next June.
Although reports suggesting that the Milan skipper is one of those who has his position ‘secured’ for upcoming World Cup, but he definitely should keep on working hard in confirming that spot.
