Just like it was being expected by many, Luka Modric was finally awarded as this year’s Ballon D’or winner, beating Cristiano Ronaldo along with Antoine Griezmann in the final three selection.
It was certainly a massive achievement for Modric, who admitted that he felt honored for receiving that popular individual awards, while adding that winning such achievement is more than just a dream for him.
The Croatian international stated that 2018 has indeed been an excellent year for him, while revealing keys for his success which are hard work, persistence and self belief.
Aside from sharing his joy for winning the Ballon D’Or, Modric also stated his wish of staying at Madrid longer and eventually ending his career at the club, once again squashing rumors about his potential departure.
The midfielder stated that his relationship with Los Blancos are really good, so his next hope is to stay at Santiago Bernebau beyond his current deal which still have two more years left.
It’s an interesting statement indeed, giving out his plan is indeed to stay with Los Blancos, by expecting at least one more contract extension with the Spanish giant probably next summer.
Despite the individual success, Modric is now set to set his focus again for Madrid, as they haven’t been performing consistently well in La Liga so far this season, something that the former Tottenham Hotspur’s man is keen on fixing.
