Liverpool keeping their runners up spot after grabbing an important win over their arch rival, Everton in the intriguing Merseyside derby this past Monday.
Jurgen Klopp’s men had Sadio Mane to thank for as it was his late goal that gave the Reds all three points from a very tight encounter which seemingly set for a draw before that winner.
Being a derby, one could already predicted that the tie will be a very tight one as neither teams were keen on losing against their rival.
Nevertheless, in the balance of play, Liverpool might feel that they do deserve the victory as they looked more dangerous throughout that tie, especially during the second half.
Aside from Mane, Daniel Sturridge also played an important part in his team’s win as it was his shot that gifted his attacking teammate the all important winning goal.
That result is very important for Liverpool as it helped them to keep that pressure at the top of Premier League standings with current leader, Chelsea.
A draw would even made them sitting third behind Manchester City, as Pep Guardiola’s men seemingly rediscovering their mojo after defeating Arsenal.
Things are tight indeed at the top of Premier League table, though The Blues are slightly ahead as they are already six points ahead of Liverpool, while Man City are just a point behind Klopp’s men.
