Manchester United’s renewed hope after grabbing a point in their latest fixture didn’t seem to be much of any help as Jose Mourinho’s men still find themselves beaten by Juventus on Champions League Tuesday fixture.
Snatching one point from Chelsea on the weekend, Man United were in a pretty confident mood as they host the Italian giant at Old Trafford stadium.
It was far from a comfortable game though for Mourinho’s side, especially during the first 45 minutes which saw Juve put on an excellent display straight from kick off.
Instead off giving their home crowd with joy, Man United were forced to chase the match since the 17th minute when they go 1-0 down due to Paulo Dybala’s effort.
Trailing 1-0 throughout the first 45 minutes, United tried hard in getting themselves back into the match as they pushed forward much harder.
However, the home team’s effort was simply not enough as Juventus were able to hold their slender lead until the final whistle was blown.
Meanwhile, defending champion, Real Madrid, finally got themselves back on winning ways ,after failing to do so on their last five matches in all competition, by defeating Viktoria Plzen.
Things did look positive for Julen Lopetegui’s side as they got themselves in front after just 11 minutes of play through Karim Benzema, a goal which lasted until half time break.
Not long after the restart, Los Blancos looking set to secure all three points when Marcelo doubled his side’s advantage with a goal on 55 minutes.
It didn’t end as comfortable as Madrid wanted though as Plzen pulled one back on 78 minutes from Patrik Hrosovski’s effort.
Fortunately for the La Liga outfit, their opponent couldn’t get that equalizing goal which could create more problems for Lopetegui, who will feel a bit relief with his team’s success in keeping their 2-1 victory until the final whistle.
