Manchester United started off their new English Premier League season in a positive fashion as they grabbed all three points on their home fixture against Leicester City.
It was far from an easy contest though for Jose Mourinho’s men as they were forced to battle hard in earning their 2-1 victory at Old Trafford.
Not having the best transfer period this summer, Mourinho’s men started off brightly as they found themselves in front after just three minutes of play through Paul Pogba’s spot kick.
Leicester reacted well after going a goal down as they were able to dominate possession and created couple of good opportunities, though they couldn’t really test David De Gea too much on United’s goal.
Ending the first 45 minutes with a one goal lead gave that confidence for Mourinho’s men in the second period, triggering much more exciting contest.
Both teams were gunning for goals, but it was United that able to snatch their second when Luke Shaw netted home on 83 minutes giving his side a supposedly comfortable two goals lead.
It was not over yet though as Leicester did manage to pull one back in stoppage time through Jamie Vardy, creating a very tense last minute at Old Trafford as the home fans thought they might blew away their two goals advantage.
Fortunately, no more goals were scored in the match as Man United held their slender lead until the final whistle was blown.
