Louis Van Gaal’s seemed keen on adding more Dutch influence on Manchester United after recent reports stating that they’re closing in for the signing of Netherlands international defender, Stefan De Vrij.
The Feyenoord man was subject of interest from several clubs after putting on a promising display in the latest World Cup. At first, Italian side, Lazio were reported to be closing the deal for the defender but things suddenly changed.
Feyenoord’s director of sport, Martin Van Geel spoke to RTV Rijmond saying that they have rejected Lazio’s offer as there were a better one arriving soon afterwards.
I am happy we did not accept Lazio’s offer, as it was too low. After that, no other proposal has been received,” Van Geel was quoted at Football-Italia.
Apparently according to media in England, it was Manchester United that put on a much bigger offer for De Vrij and it seems that Feyenoord will accept it, leaving Lazio in despair.
