Manchester United along with Juventus finally securing their spots in the knock out stage of UEFA Champions League after winning their final group games on Tuesday.
Playing their last fixture at home, Man United went on to beat Russian champion, CSKA Moscow 2-1, while Juve overcome Olympiacos in Greece 2-0.
Dominating the tie, things didn’t actually go smoothly for United as they found themselves trailing by goal during the first 45 minutes as Vitinho scored for the visitor.
Jose Mourinho’s men reacted positively though as they bounced back after the break, started with Romelu Lukaku’s equalizer, which eventually followed by the winning goal netted by Marcus Rashford.
As for the Juve, they started off brilliantly with Juan Cuadrado putting them in front after just 15 minutes of play.
The Italian giant secured all three points from that tie when Federico Bernardeschi scored the second goal on 89th minutes.
Both teams’ joy was not felt by Atletico Madrid as the Spanish giant have to exit the tournament following a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
That result basically forced them to play in Europa League instead early next year as they finished third in their group behind AS Roma and Chelsea.
Moreover, because of that 1-1 draw, Roma ends up finishing top of their group ahead of The Blues, that might just regret not pushing for three points on their match against Atletico.
