Manchester United’s honey moon period under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is still far from ending as Red Devils snatched a massive away win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Playing away from home, United were putting on a more cautious approach as they were setting things up more on the counter instead of trying to attack naively.
Solksjaer’s counter attacking approach went pretty well in the first 45 minutes as Man United were able to get themselves ahead from a quick play which resulted in a goal from Marcus Rashford on 44 minutes.
Tottenham were pushing forward more vigorously after the break, forcing United to defend much deeper and were simply hanging on.
The home team created plenty opportunities but were guilty of wasting them, though Man U’s goalie, David De Gea put on a brilliant display to stop Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
De Gea made 11 saves alone in that half, though Tottenham players can be called out guilty for their lack of composure as there were plenty of shots that went too central.
In the end, despite endless efforts from Tottenham, Man United were able to hold down their slender lead until the final whistle was blown.
It was an important result indeed for Man United as they can grow more confidence and beliefs in their shot in competing for top four finish.
