Manchester United continuing their quest to secure that second place spot in English Premier League as Jose Mourinho’s men picked up an important win this weekend, beating Arsenal 2-1.
Hosting Arsene Wenger in what would be his last time visiting Old Trafford as Gunners’ manager, Man United were not in the mood for a friendly like encounter as they put on an aggressive display straight from kick off.
That positive approach was immediately rewarded as United got themselves in front after just 16 minutes of play through their star midfielder, Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman’s goal lasted until half time as Gunners failed to get an equalizer during that period, forcing Wenger’s men heading into the break trailing by a goal.
Things got more interesting in the second period with Arsenal also pushing hard to get themselves back into the tie, triggering a more exciting battle between those two old rivals.
Gunners finally got their equalizing goal when Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored on 51 minutes with a lovely low drive that fooled David De Gea on United’s goal.
Mourinho’s men were not keen on sharing a point as they continue pushed further forward in search for that precious winning goal, which they eventually acquired in stoppage time, thanks to their substitute, Marouane Fellaini.
