An interesting statement was shouted by Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, who admitted that he is indeed expecting more from Wayne Rooney.

Albeit continuously defending the England skipper after Rooney’s disappointing start into the season, Mourinho was not shy on stating that he do expect to see more goals from United captain so far this season.

Mourinho stated that considering Rooney is an attacker, is pretty much normal if the Portuguese tactician wants to see more goals from the former Everton youth players.

However, the tactician immediately added that he doesn’t just expecting more goals from Rooney only, but also for other players from Red Devils.

Moreover, Mourinho also added that even though Rooney has been played out in a much deeper role with Three Lions, for the Portuguese his skipper remain as an attacking player.

Explaining further, the tactician also believes that they’re lack of goals has been one of the main reason for Man United current struggle in challenging for that top four place.

Mourinho believes that up till now, Man United have been putting out pretty good performances, but struggle to win since they are struggling in scoring more than one or two goals.

It will be interesting to see how long will Mourinho maintain his believes in getting the best of Rooney, especially if Man United’s goal scoring ability  remain awful.
