Man City Win Thriller Against Monaco, Atletico Beat Leverkusen
City keeping their Champions League hope alive following a thrilling home win over Monaco in their UEFA Champions League fist leg battle.
It was a cracking game as the home team netted five goals, but conceded three which will make their second leg fixture pretty tough indeed.
City got themselves off into a got start actually with Raheem Sterling on 26 minutes, but Radamel Falcao snatched the equalizing goal for Monaco soon afterwards.
The away team eventually turned that tie around just before half time break as Kylian Mbappe netted his side’s second, giving that slender lead going into the break.
Monaco had the chance to extend their lead when they were awarded a spot kick, but Falcao saw his poor weak shot saved by Willy Caballero.
Pep Guardiola’s side took advantage over that situation as they got back on level terms through Sergio Aguero’s effort, which immediately replied by Falcao to make it 3-2 for Leonardo Jardim’s men.
However, from that moment on it was mostly Man City as they were able to turn things around by scoring three more goals through Aguero, John Stones along with Leroy Sane.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid got into a much better situation compared to Man City as Diego Simeone’s boys defeated Leverkusen 4-2 away from home.
Saul Niguez, Antoine Griezmann, Kevin Gameiro and Fernando Torres all got their name in the score sheet for Atletico, while Karim Bellarabi along with an own goal from Stevan Savic provide Leverkusen with their goals in that tie.
