Man City Ended Winless Streak, Liverpool Held in EPL Midweek

Manchester City finally ended their winless streak after taking down Nottingham Forest 3-0 at Etihad Stadium. At the same time, Liverpool only picked up a point from their clash against Newcastle United in this midweek Premier League fixtures.

Man City Grabbed a Win Over Forest

Pep Guardiola’s team finally ended their miserable winless run this midweek following a convincing win against Nottingham Forest at home. After failing to win in their last seven consecutive matches, Man City finally got all three points by beating Forest 3-0.

Goals from Bernardo Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, and Jeremy Doku were enough to seal maximum points for Guardiola’s side and maintain their title challenge alive and well. Despite their recent bad runs, City are still sitting fourth with 26 points, nine points behind current league leader Liverpool.

Liverpool Held to a 3-3 Draw Against Newcastle

Meanwhile, The Reds failed to grab all three points in their midweek league match after being held into an exciting 3-3 draw against The Magpies.  A late goal from Fabian Schar cancelled out Liverpool’s potential victory at St. James Park as Mohamed Salah looked to have won it for the visitor with his goal on 83 minutes.

Newcastle got themselves ahead in that game after Alexander Isak scored on 35 minutes but Arne Slot’s site drew level through Curtis Jones’ effort on 50 minutes. Anthony Gordon put the home team ahead again at 62 minutes but Salah equalized six minutes later before eventually putting his team ahead seven minutes from time.

Unfortunately, Schar’s close-range finish in the 90th minute denied Liverpool the chance to grab another victory. This result didn’t affect Liverpool’s position at the top as they are still sitting comfortably at the top with 35 points, seven points ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal which both collected 28 points.
