Man City, Arsenal Cruising Into FA Cup Semifinals
Manchester City and Arsenal are inching closer for a potential trophy win this season as both successfully made their way into FA Cup semifinals following victories over their respective opponents.
Pep Guardiola’s men ousted fellow premier league side, Middlesbrough 2-0, while Arsenal demolished non league side, Lincoln City 5-0, much to the relieve of their boss, Arsene Wenger.
Drawing their last league fixture, Man City were determined to make things up in their FA Cup quarter finals by eliminating Boro.
Things looking bright indeed for Guardiola’s boys as they went one goal up after just three minutes of play through David Silva’s effort.
It wasn’t all easy though afterwards, due to City’s failure in converting most of their opportunities, keeping the game alive and well until half time break.
However, midway in the second half, Sergio Aguero was able to snatch the all important second goal and pretty much confirmed his team’s advancement into the next round.
Meanwhile, following their disappointing Champions League exit against Bayern Munich, Arsenal were looking for some redemption over Lincoln.
Despite having a rather difficult time early on, Gunners did their job well, notably after they finally broke the dead lock through Theo Walcott just before the break.
In the second half, Wenger’s men were cruising their way into the match as they blasted four goals from Olivier Giroud, Alexis Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey and an own goal by Luke Waterfall.
