Riyad Mahrez’s failure in converting an important spot kick during Leicester City’s weekend league tie against Aston Villa ends up rather costly for him.
Following that miss, Leicester’s manager, Claudio Ranieri decided to temporarily take Mahrez off the spot kick duty until uncertain time length.
Ranieri claimed that it was a decision that he has already discussed with the player and agreed upon stating that it might be best for Mahrez as well.
The former Greece national team boss ensured that when Mahrez is mentally ready again to take that responsibility, Ranieri will allow the winger to take it again.
That miss was essential indeed for Leicester as that match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw, while a win will put Foxes back into the top of Premier League table.
