Defending champion, Real Madrid continue to showcase their prowess in Champions League as Zinedine Zidane’s team advanced into the last eight of that competition after eliminating Paris Saint-Germain.

Leading 3-1 in aggregate, Los Blancos looking calmer than their opponent, especially as PSG also playing without their star player, Neymar, who picked up a major injury in their recent league fixture.

Neymar’s absence certainly affecting Paris’ confidence, notably going forward as they didn’t play with their similar swagger and intensity, while their opponent were always dangerous.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, it was Madrid that got themselves ahead as Cristiano Ronaldo showcasing his goal scoring habit in the knock out stage of Champions League.

Things look bleaker for the French capital side when Marco Verratti got sent off, but they did manage to draw level through Edinson Cavani’s effort on 71 minutes.

Cavani’s goal sparked a glimmer of hope for PSG, but playing with only 10 men were tough for the home team as they eventually lost it and saw Madrid regained their advantage 10 minutes from time with an effort from Casemiro.

Winning 2-1 means Madrid are taking a comfortable 5-2 aggregate win over their opponent, once again proving that Los Blancos are still such strong force in the competition despite not having the best of performances in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Premier League side, Liverpool also advanced into the knock out stage following their goalless draw over FC Porto.

The Reds’ 5-0 away win pretty much secured their seat into the next round, so despite being held into a 0-0 draw at home, Jurgen Klopp’s team still strolling their way into the next stage.
