Luis Suarez’s World Cup campaign meet its end after FIFA discipline committee decided to punish his recent action in biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during Uruguay’s 1-0 win over Italy.
Although that incident escaped referee’s attention but video evidence along with strong voices from football enthusiasts basically triggered FIFA to take action over it and eventually punished Suarez for nine international matches suspension plus four months of ban on every football related things.
As it was revealed on FIFA‘s official website, the Football Federation considered Suarez of breaching several rules which forced them to make such heavy punishment.
Furthermore, FIFA’s disciplinary committee’s chairman, Claudio Sulser, stated that Suarez’s action is not something that can be tolerated in any football matches, let along during such major tournament such as World Cup.
“Such behaviour cannot be tolerated on any football pitch, and in particular not at a FIFA World Cup when the eyes of millions of people are on the stars on the field. The Disciplinary Committee took into account all the factors of the case and the degree of Mr Suárez’s guilt in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Code. The decision comes into force as soon it is communicated,” read a statement from Sulser.
