Philipp Lahm’s positional change in current German national team setup has been receiving several criticism from many football experts as many still believes that Lahm should return to play as a right back instead of playing as a defensive midfielder.
However, that critics isn’t going to change Joachim Low’s mind as the tactician recently stated that he want’s Lahm to remain in midfield unless there’s an emergency at the back for Germany.
“Philipp Lahm has been a leading figure for us in recent years and he’s been playing at the highest level for a decade, but he will only move back into defense if we have a problem on the right,”Low stated as quoted on FIFA.
Lahm’s positional switch was actually started by Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich and apparentlyer Low is liking what he saw from it, that’s why he decided to put the skipper in midfield instead.
However, many believes that without Lahm playing as one of the full back position, there’s been lack of effective wide playing from Germany in current World Cup 2014.
