Liverpool Ended Van Dijk Chase After Illegal Approach Claim

A disappointing news arrived for Liverpool fans as their dream of witnessing talented Dutch defender, Virgil Van Dijk, at Anfield this summer might come to an end.

That situation occurred following The Reds’ decision in ending their interest to sign the Southampton defender following recent suspicion of illegal approach being done by Jurgen Klopp’ side.

Liverpool confirmed their decision to stop their approach for Van Dijk in an official statement on the club’s website, stating their apology for any misunderstanding happened between two clubs.

It’s not a secret that The Reds have had their eyes on the 25-year-old player and recently there seems to be positive signs that Van Dijk is keen on playing at Anfield.

However, Southampton felt that the player’s sudden strong interest in joining Liverpool happened due to an illegal approach done by the Merseyside based outfit, forcing Saints to report their suspicion.

Following that reports sent towards the Premier League authority, The Reds’ immediately sent out their apology and those recent statement, pretty much stating that they did make an inappropriate approach towards the former Celtic center back.

The news is certainly a blow for Liverpool fans, as just few hours back they were confident that the deal will eventually happen and Southampton’s complain was nothing serious that can jeopardize it, well unfortunately those supporters are wrong.
